Welcome to Gainesville, Virginia
Gainesville was originally a changing point for stagecoach horses on the Fauquier & Alexandria Turnpike. It developed into a shipping point for grain, timber, and cattle. As you can imagine from its location, Gainesville has Civil War history as well, with nearby Thoroughfare Gap serving as a path for soldiers to reach the First and Second battles of Bull Run.
Today Gainesville is a thriving locale in Prince William County with new shopping development cropping up. The Promenade at Virginia Gateway is one of the more recent developments, and it features lots of shopping and dining options, including a theater.
Schools are part of the Prince William County school system, and Gainesville Middle School feeds into Patriot High School.
Several parks are nearby, providing plenty of outdoor activities.
Commuting is straightforward, with easy access to I66, which leads to other major highways in the DC Metro Area. In 2022, the Gainesville Railway Station will open, linking the area to the other counties and cities in Northern Virginia.
There's also convenient access to Dulles International Airport, one of the three major airports in the area. Most of the international air traffic in the region comes into Dulles.
